URSI Awards

The URSI awards are presented at the Opening Ceremony of the URSI General Assembly.
The "senior" awards are the Balthasar van der Pol Gold Medal, the John Howard Dellinger Gold Medal, the Appleton Prize, and the Booker Gold Medal, and the "junior" award is the Koga Gold Medal.

Balthasar van der Pol Gold Medal

Prof. W.G. FARNELL, Canada
Citation: "Work in physical electronics, in particular on microwave lenses, spin phonon interactions in solids, microwave acoustics, and acoustic microscopy.".

Issac Koga Gold Medal

Dr. M. OHTSU, Japan
Citation: "Work on precise optical measurements, gas and semi-conductor lasers, including the frequency stabilization of these components.".

John Howard Dellinger Medal

Mrs. I. DE PATER, Netherlands
Citation: "Work on noise of planetary origin, the magnetosphere of Jupiter, and shock waves in the magnetosphere of the Earth.".
